Issue 1:

  Appalachia in the 21st Century

Sharing the real stories of

Our mountains

We want to hear about death metal banjo music, stories as wild as these hills, front porch futurism, old gods and new tongues, mountain high art, queer grit, and rewired mountain legends.

We highly encourage submissions that avoid reinforcing stereotypes and instead focus on thoughtful, nuanced portrayals that promote diversity and reflect underrepresented voices and perspectives.

Our why

Appalachia is as misunderstood as it is beautiful, diverse, and culturally rich. The driving force behind this publication is to uplift the voices of a people and place that pushback against stereotypes and give a more nuanced portrayal of our mountain homes.

For, by, and of the people who know it best.
